Champions League T20 2012 Author: Maaz; Views: 730; Date: 27-07-2012, 04:07;

The 2012 Champions League schedule has been confirmed and finalised today.

The tournament will be held in South Africa and will start just 2 days after the final of the 2012 World T20 in Sri Lanka.

14 teams will be competing with that reduced to 10 after the preliminary stages are over for particular teams to qualify.

Groups will then be divided into 2 groups of 5 where the top two will make it into the semi-finals.

The venues include Johannesburg, Cape Town, Centurion and Durban with Johannesburg hosting the final.

This is the 2nd time the Champions League is coming to South Africa.

Previous winners of this tournament are New South Wales, Chennai Super Kings and defending champions Mumbai Indians.

David Warner is the leading run scorer in this competition over the previous 3 editions and West Indies all-rounder Dwayne Bravo has taken the most wickets.

Sialkot Stallions will play on the opening day vs New Zealand domestic T20 winners Auckland Aces. Sialkot will need to most likely win both this game and the game against the English county in order to reach the group stage round.

Preliminary round = 9th-11th October
Group Stage = 13th-23rd October
Semi Finals = 25th and 26th October
Final = 28th October
