On this day Imran Tahir bowled his way to a Test 5-fer at DSC during a comeback Test match and a must win Test match last year. It was on the opening day of the Test. Pakistan were shot out for 99 for a second successive time at the venue, having won the toss and elected to make first use of the surface.

Pakistan lost this Test comprehensively. However, South Africa's innings victory was overshadowed with ball tampering controversies during the evening of the third day.
