16th June Reaction

From the defeat in Dhaka at the hands of the West Indies in 1998 to yesterday's encounter in Birmingham, the ICC Champions Trophy is a competition that Pakistan have failed in repeatedly. They will not play another encounter in this particular world event as it is being terminated to accommodate a world test championship in a new structure as of 2015. The recent performances in Group B of the ICC Champions Trophy of the side make this arguably Pakistan's worst ever showing in an ICC World event.

They are the only side not to have registered a point from either group. The year of 2013 has been an atrocious one for the side with disastrous results in the test series in South Africa and the ICC Champions Trophy, the two biggest assignments of the year. Pakistan also finished in last position of the Women's World Cup in India back in February. You can expect some interesting developments in the mysterious world that is Pakistan Cricket over the next fortnight as majority of the team and the various officials/backroom staff arrive home to face the disappointed media and fans.

 Super Sixes

The top three teams in each group moved on to the Super Six stage which is scored as a complete round-robin. But each of the six teams played only three new matches, rather than five—each group's three representatives carried forward their result against each other rather than play again.
The top two teams in the final table qualified for the final.

Pakistan Target 2013 Womens World Cup Success Author: Maaz; Views: 1763; Comments: ; Date: 28-11-2012, 07:37;

pak vs eng t20 match
This is the 3rd time Pakistan have qualified for the Women's World Cup after previous experiences in 1997, 2009 and we will see them take the field in 2013 as well. Sana Mir, Bismah Maroof and Nida Dar are amongst the well-recognised names in the Pakistan side to look out for.

 ICC WWC will be held in February in India. This will be the 10th edition of the championship. England were winners during the previous edition in Australia vs. New Zealand in the final 2009 and therefore Charlotte Edwards and side enter this World Cup as defending champions of the title. Australia is the most successful side in the WWC with 5 of the 9 titles belonging to them, England are in second place with 3 titles and New Zealand have won it once before. The above 3 teams are the major sides and the strongest as well. West Indies were winners of the qualification tournament in 2011 which was held in Bangladesh and have made great progress in the women's game in recent years, which includes some of their players getting awards at ICC annual award ceremonies. Australia recently won the Women's ICC World T20 for a 2nd successive time under coach Stuart Law. England were runners up in a close fought final with West Indies and New Zealand ending their journeys as semi-finalists.

Pakistan finished in 6th position in the ICC Women's World T20, memorably beating their Indian counterparts on 1st of October, a day after the men side were defeated by 8 wickets in the super eight fixture in Colombo. Sana Mir's side also ended as runners up of the T20 Asia Cup in the same month in China during an 8 eight team competition. In late 2010, Pakistan's Women side achieved their biggest feat to date when they were crowned champions of the Asian Games in China. The above evidence is suggestive of Pakistan's women’s side doing well in Twenty20 matches, but 50 over cricket is a harder challenge.
