I don't think not being used to playing 5 test match series can be excused for India. They played 4 match series away and home against England or Australia since mid 2011. How different can one extra Test match be? Take Pakistan who have only played a 4 match Test series twice in the last 10 years, when they toured England in the second half of 2006 and 2010.
